Amanda V.

After finding the site I wanted to share my story with you.

I am a 32 year old woman who found out she has factor v while 6 months pregnant. I started having huge pains in my right leg and a cramp that lasted for over a day. Since my mom had suffered from clots I was pretty sure that it was a dvt and I was right. This was on Tuesday. They kept me in the hospital on lovenox and heparin until my levels were equalized on Thursday and I went home. Saturday we took my two step children to the park and I began double breathing. Once again prior knowledge prevailed. We dropped the kids off with a sitter and called the doctor while rushing to the ER.

They did a ct scan and found 3 pulmonary embolisms. They hospitalized me and switched me to arixtrra. They informed my husband and I that I was positive for factor v leiden. I am very lucky that my daughter and I survived this. Right now she is a crazy 15 month old running around the house screaming. I have since had one more dvt and pe set. I will be on coumadin for a long time but at least they know what it is now. My mom was not that lucky.
