Information For The Recently Diagnosed

Why does the site of my DVT still bother me?

If you have had a DVT anywhere in your body, the medication given to you helps dissolve the clot. However, your vein is now scarred. And probably the valves in the vein are damaged. This is why many of us that have had DVT's in our legs, have problems with poor circulation and wear compression stockings. It's not that the vein still has a clot, but that the valve is damaged and can't push the blood back up to recirculate. This is a non-techy version of what the doc. told me. For an "official" version of this, ask you doc., since I'm not one.
